We’ve been talking about it for years, but it’s finally time: We’re updating our list of the best games ever made.
It’s been 10 years since the first version of this list. That’s pretty hard to believe, but then again, the last three years have felt like a decade by themselves. Last time we wrote nearly 25,000 words about our favorites and how the voting worked. This time, we’re doing it as a podcast series where we count down to our pick for the best video game of all-time.
We want our longtime listeners and readers to be a part of the process as well. To do so, send a list with your picks to email@example.com by Sunday, Nov. 20. NOTE: Unlike last time, it’s really important to us that we get the creme de la creme on this — if you only feel strongly about a top 10 or top 15, that’s fine! I’d rather you send the ones you’re really passionate about than just fill out a list to try to get to 25.
We used a weighted scoring system to determine the position of each game that receives votes. It’s weighted toward the guys who started this whole thing because we want the list to reflect our own interests, but your choices will matter as well.
I’m excited to see how this plays out. There have been a few heavyweights in gaming over the last decade that will undoubtedly have a huge impact on this iteration of our list. In addition, our feelings have shifted on certain games in that span, either because they didn’t age well or a series put out a newer release that made an older one feel irrelevant.
So join us as we do what we do best: make an elaborate top 25 and spend a ton of time breaking it down. We’ll start the countdown on the podcast on Tuesday, Dec. 6 and continue each week until we reach the #1 on Tuesday, Dec. 27, then do our annual Best of Pop Culture year in review episode the first week of January.
