It happened a few days ago, but with my work schedule completely destroying me because of the holiday this week, I haven’t had a chance to acknowledge it until now. At the Buzzer has made it to what I think is a pretty significant plateau: 500,000 hits. That’s a cool half million, baby.
It’s been a while since we celebrated a major plateau around these parts. We used to do them more frequently, before our traffic started to get heavier — there was something at 10,000, 20,000, 30,000, 40,000, 50,000, 100,000 and 250,000. But you have to start drawing the line somewhere. I’m not sure that getting to 345,000 hits would have been worth noting, for example. I was partial to 412,638 though.
I’m stuck at work as we speak, doing an infamous 3 p.m. to midnight/8 a.m. to 3 p.m. combination right now. It’s super great and I’m super awake. Once I get home, though, the first of not one, not two, but three bonus videos will go up on the website. Extra videos have become something of a tradition around these parts, and this time we’re going off the deep end.
Shaun and I have talked about Yu-gi-oh on the show before. It’s our not-so-secret love. In this series, we’ll be dueling for maximum stakes as we try to avoid falling into the Shadow Realm. I don’t know if you’ve heard of the Shadow Realm, but it’s serious business. People’s souls go there to die. It’s dark purple everywhere and it conveniently shows up whenever someone seems to be dying, because you can’t have death on a 4Kids show. Anyway, this is our chance to do something we’ve talked about for a while — if you enjoy card games or just shenanigans in general, take a look.
I haven’t decided if the next plateau will be 750,000 or just straight to one million. Our typical traffic would put another quarter million hits at somewhere around a year, so waiting until a million would be two years (not factoring in the gradual increase we keep getting). I’m guessing it’ll be 750k, but don’t hold me to that — I’ll be in my 30s by then, and I probably won’t remember anything anymore.

Well, at our current pace, I guess we’d be posting 4,732 videos. Sounds fun.
To celebrate a billion? Will we all still even be alive and kicking in the amount of time it’ll take to make and post those? Unless you’re going to be making these videos in a nursing home somewhere.

Unless those videos end up being of Shaun crying and wishing you were still around to edit the videos he can’t. I’d pay to see those, but then again I’ll probably be six feet under as well. We can always laugh and pity him on the other side.
