Lucina and Robin Prepare to Smash the Bros.

I’ve been saying it should happen from day one, and I finally got my wish: Lucina and Robin (your avatar protagonist) have been confirmed for the new Smash Bros. game for Wii U and the 3DS.

And it makes sense. These are some of Nintendo’s best written characters ever, not to mention it’s a great way to hopefully boost the popularity of one of Nintendo’s more obscure, but still excellent, franchises. The most recent Fire Emblem: Awakening (the game from which these characters hail) is easily one of the greatest games I’ve ever played, and if this announcement encourages more players to check it out, then I’m on board.

Captain Falcon and Pillows

Captain Falcon was also announced, but whatever. That announcement for me is like announcing an amazing new pillow – it’s not that I don’t like pillows, but I’m more interested in the announcements of the life-changing mattresses than the accessory. Lucina and Robin are the mattresses. This is a bed metaphor.

I was excited for Smash Bros. Now I’m completely stoked. I’m not the only one, either – check out Chris’ reactions (and how he burns the always-bemoaning fanboys).
