A remastered Phoenix Wright Trilogy for the 3DS was announced today, and with it, all my dreams come true.
Releasing in Winter 2014 (so soon!), the trilogy will include high quality versions of the first 3 games. That’s right – this means, if you ever wanted to play the series, instead of having to track down the originals and pay an exorbitant amount of money to enjoy now-muddy visuals, you can just buy the whole thing on digital download (only) for the 3DS.
For those of you not familiar with the series, I’ll offer a brief recap:
1. Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney – Great game, with an excellent, compelling story that doesn’t take long to get going and concludes with a heart breaking finale that ties everything together.
2. Phoenix Wright: Justice for All – Okay game, but the story falls flat because there’s not an overarching narrative that has been included in every other game of the series. However, the final case is pretty excellent still, and the title introduces a great new prosecutor that I ship Phoenix with. Because that’s a thing I do.
3. Phoenix Wright: Trials and Tribulations – The strongest game, not only in the original trilogy, but in the entire series. The fifth game, Dual Destinies, streamlines and improves the gameplay, but Phoenix Wright games are story and characters first, and this game kills it on that front. It contains the strongest over-arching narrative, and everything builds up to a truly epic finale that destroyed me.
Between this announcement, the recent (and excellent) Dual Destinies, and the upcoming Layton crossover, it’s a good time to be a Phoenix Wright fan. Buy this game, America, and check out the announcement trailer below.
Yay!! I want this. 🙂
If Capcom gets so much money from this, then the case on bringing the second Miles game can be opened again to them.
