Black Flag? I knew it. I freaking called it. Ask our tech guy. While I was playing Assassin’s Creed 3, I said “For the next Assassin’s Creed, they should go pirates. I’d play the s*** out of a pirate game. After all, it seemed like the natural evolution of a series that featured naval combat so heavily. While we won’t know yet if this means you ARE a pirate with your vessel (here’s hoping), or fighting against the pirates, it’s been confirmed that Assassin’s Creed 4 will be called “Black Flag,” and will center around these lovely bunch of seafaring fellows.

I’m so down for this. To me, the series has only been getting better in the featured time periods, with almost every entry, and I’m looking forward to a change of pace and different flavor. While I could go without Nickelback’s lead singer as the protagonist, complete with his long block locks, I’m interested in which direction the series will go.

Actually, the “blondness” of the protagonist brings up a good point, along with the other images. Does this mean that we’re going to be following a new protagonist in the present (which is likely, considering AC 3’s ending). Also, notice the flag in the background – the classic Assassin symbol, with a skull in the middle. Looks like a pirate life might be awaiting fans for AC IV.
