At the Buzzer: Behind the Scenes

I’ve been meaning to do something like this for a while now, but it hasn’t really happened yet. Today is that day.

One of the questions about the show I get most is about how we set the whole thing up. It’s a complicated process, you see. Technically, the recording setup itself is simple, but trying to get two people to record in one city, one person to record 120 miles away, and another to do the news from thousands of miles away is a bit more tough.

Anyway, I recorded a little video to show what our methods look like. As you’ll see in the video, it’s really just a laptop, a nice microphone, a pair of Bose headphones, and some cables. It’s the planning step that usually takes more time. Down below, I’ll put some links to some of the equipment if you’re interested in finding out more about it or trying to start a podcast yourself.

In a later post (which is the perfect excuse to stretch this out further), I’ll go over the more technical side of stuff, including how we edit and produce the show each week. Until then, enjoy!
